Located in the south of Ha Long Bay and the east of Cat Ba Island, Lan Ha Bay has an area of over 7,000 hectares featuring by a spectacular beauty of 400 islands with many interesting shapes. Unlike Ha Long Bay, all islands in Lan Ha Bay are verdant, although just extremely tiny islands.
Still not well known by tourists but Lan Ha Bay is considered one of the most beautiful bays in Vietnam. When the autumn weather come, it is also the most beautiful time of Lan Ha Bay with the sun light, not too hot, mild with cool breeze of the ocean, making guests to enjoy the refreshing, relaxing while boating for sightseeing in the bay.
Best Time to travel to Lan Ha Bay
With a cool, fresh climate, visitors can travel to Lan Ha Bay any time of the year. However, domestic tourists often travel o Lan Ha Bay from April to October, while foreign tourists often visit Lan Ha from November to March.
Transportation to Lan Ha Bay
From the center of Cat Ba Island, you move to Ben Beo, buy a ticket to visit the bay and hire boat to go anywhere you want. If you just want to walk around the bay (near shore and not go too far), then you can rent a motorboat for convenience.

Nam Cat Island
Nam Cat Island attracts visitors by the wild characters, four natural surroundings; the sea covers the forest in a charming way.
From Ben Beo, taking a boat for about 15 minutes, you will get to Nam Cat. Because of the rawness, tourists coming here always enjoy the feeling of tranquility. The intervention of humans on the island is limited to keep the natural values. With 3 large wooden stilt houses and 6 motels are made from bamboo, you will find yourself melting with nature and the sea air. In addition, the island also has a full range of services for tourists, from the beach, kayaking, scuba diving, fishing … to campfire, team activities at night.
Monkey Island (Cat Dua Island)
In order to get to Monkey Island, tourists take a boat from Ben Beo for about 10 minutes crossing Cai Beo fishing village and some small island. Previously, Monkey Island is called Cat Dua Island which means Pineapple Island because the island had many wild pineapple trees; the pineapples looked very good, but not edible. Currently, the island is often called Monkey Island. The reason is that the island has more than 20 monkeys raised by rangers of the National Park Cat Ba. Monkeys usually play on the beach with tourists, eating foods given by tourists: bananas, apples, tangerines, candy … funny monkeys playing, climbing impress those who ever came here and gradually people call this Monkey island.
Van Boi beach
This is a tourist destination for kayaking and swimming because it is situated in the calm location of the bay with cool blue water and beautiful landscapes.
It is a small island located in Lan Ha Bay with the shape like a turtle swimming in water. The islet is located close to the road from Ben Beo to Viet Hai Village.
Chuong Islet is also known as But Islet, Nen Islet, Bap Chuoi Islet. It is a small island on the road from Cat Ba to Cua Van fishing village.
